Best Seats in the House for
Prescribed Prairie Burn
As one of a series of events scheduled to celebrate its 50th anniversary,
The Nature Conservancy has organized a concert on Tuesday, March 13, 2007,
by Fulcrum Point New Music Project featuring the world premiere of Phoenix
Rising at the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph, Chicago.
In collaboration with Fulcrum Point, The Nature Conservancy commissioned Paul
Oehlers to compose an electronically mined score including recorded sounds
of a prescribed prairie burn managed by The Nature Conservancy. In addition,
a visual interpretation of the same burn will be integrated into the concert.
The special evening begins with a reception at 6 p.m. The concert starts at
7:30 p.m. Members of the audience are invited to a free post-concert reception
to meet the artists. Pricing for concert tickets with preferred seating is
available at (312) 665-7400. Members of The Nature Conservancy and The Field
Museum will receive special pricing.
Fulcrum Point, Chicago’s most ambitious advocate of new music from around
the world, presents this concert titled Out of the Ashes, as part of its five-year
series called “Essential Art: Essential Elements.”
