Sensible Growth Receives Funding Support
On August 6, Illinois Governor George
Ryan signed the Local
Planning Technical Assistance Act into law. The act
updates the state's 1920s planning statutes, defines what
should be included in a comprehensive plan, and authorizes
the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs to offer
a variety of planning-related technical assistance.
The act, supported by the Campaign
for Sensible Growth, Illinois chapter of the American
Planning Association (APA), and the Metropolitan Planning
Council, is based on a model statute in the APA's Growing
Smart Legislative Guidebook.
