Openlands' Gerald Adelmann Wins Greenways
Award
Last September, the Eastman Kodak
Company, in conjunction with The Conservation Fund and
the National Geographic Society, awarded Openlands
Project executive director Gerald Adelmann one of
its outstanding achievement awards. The winners were selected
for leadership and contributions toward creating a nationwide
network of trails, greenways, and protected open space.
(See The
Conservation Fund's report.)
In granting the award, Eastman Kodak
cited Adelmann's early work in the Des Plaines River Valley,
his leadership in creating the I&M Canal National
Heritage Corridor, and his continued guidance of Openlands'
effort to create a 4,000-mile network of trails, greenways,
forest preserves, and protected river corridors throughout
northeastern Illinois. Congratulations, Jerry!
