Cook County FPD Establishes Volunteer Center

The building formerly known as the Edgebrook Community Center on the northwest side of Chicago now has a promising new mission in life. It officially opened in January as the new Volunteer Resource Center for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. "The center gives us a focal point for volunteer activity in the district," says Bill Koenig, district volunteer coordinator.

In addition to upstairs offices for the four-member volunteer resource team, the new center will also house meetings and classes, providing space for volunteers to gather and discuss their ecological efforts before going out into the field. The Center is located at 6100 North Central in Chicago, (773) 631-1790.
